The Nintendo fandom is growing quite suspicious after noticing so many gaming journalists flying to New York. Are we getting a big press event for a Nintendo Switch 2 game?
The Nintendo Switch 2 launch was a massive success if you only pay attention to numbers. Despite its record sales, the console arrived with basically no new games. It has been out for about seven months, and we’ve gotten largely throwaway titles, Switch 2 Editions of existing games, a cheaply made Pokémon slop game, Donkey Kong Bananza, and Kirby Air Riders.
Yes, I’m a Kirby fanatic. Yes, the Switch 2 launch still sucked.
It’s no wonder that Nintendo fans are full of constant speculations. We want mainline Nintendo exclusives, damn it! If I wanted to play a bunch of has-been shooters and fighting games on a worse platform than my gaming PC, I’d just use my old work laptop.
Are we getting a new Mario game soon?
Alright, I’m gonna add to the speculations. But that’s only because I find them quite interesting and promising. And maybe I’m desperate for an actual good game for my Nintendo Switch 2, which I basically use just to see Kirby wear hats in Air Riders.
According to accounts known for Nintendo insight on X (formerly Twitter), many game journalists are heading to New York City. This includes Steve Bowling from Good Vibes Gaming, Blessing Adeoye from KindaFunny, Andy Robinson from Video Games Chronicle, and Nintendo Brand Ambassador Roger “RogersBase” DiLuigi.
Entire flight to WHERE, RogersBase!?
Anyway, it could be nothing. However, it does align with the upcoming Nintendo Direct, which is allegedly only about Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream, on January 29th. Is Nintendo really flying out tons of gaming journalists and content creators to play Tomodachi Life? It’s definitely possible.
But could we be finally getting some news about a game that actually matters? Like a new Mario game? A new Legend of Zelda game?
My guess is no. Still, let’s keep hoping that the Nintendo Switch 2 will finally be worth the investment and not just a $500 console used for DLC, expansions, and Switch 2 Editions. Leakers, I beg of you, find some more interesting information. Maybe read into some tweets. Is there a reason RogersBase is playing Paper Mario on the way to Nintendo’s HQ!??! ANYTHING, PLEASE!
Fingers crossed.
