Call of Duty Black Ops 7 is still kicking, and after the delay of its rival’s Season 2 update, it has a chance to show players why they should return in 2026.
Both the franchise’s current mainline entry and the free-to-play Warzone will get free content in the next week or so, from maps to weapons and more. Here’s a full rundown of what to expect from Black Ops 7 and Warzone Season 2.
The Escapist recaps
- Black Ops 7 is getting its second season of content, alongside an update for Warzone.
- The update is coming on February 5 for both games.
- Expect all new content to be free, with paid add-ons for skins and a fresh battle pass.
Is there a Black Ops 7 and Warzone Season 2 release date?
We had a pretty good idea, because the current Season 1 Battle Pass is expected to end around February 5 – and we now have confirmation.
You can check out the first trailer below, which confirms the timing.
As for release timings, we’re expecting it to go live at 9 AM PT or 5 PM GMT on PS5, Xbox, and PC via Steam and Battle.net.
What to expect from Season 2 of Black Ops 7

Focusing on the mainline entry for now, Black Ops 7’s Season 2 update will likely be heftier than the Season 1 Reloaded update.
Reloaded updates are almost half-steps between seasons, so we’re expecting big things from Season 2.
There are the usual accoutrements: a fresh Battle Pass, new store items, and likely new maps, too.
We usually get a couple of fresh weapons, too, but as things stand, we don’t know what those will be. Expect news really soon, though – Activision likes to roll out a blog post just a few days before a fresh season, so we’ll update this page as soon as we have more.
For Zombies players, we have a little more of an idea of what’s coming. Mars will be getting a survival map, new weapons are coming to the Mystery Box (Hawker HX and Sturmwolf 45), and Starting Room will be a permanent game mode.
We will be getting a new Zombies map entirely, but not until Black Ops 7 Season 2 Reloaded.
And hey, after that fun Fallout collab, maybe we’ll get another in-game event tied to something else.
New Warzone updates

Season 2 marks the arrival of the Avalon map in Warzone – the very same one found in the Endgame mode in Black Ops 7.
That’s a big deal, since it’s a nice, varied locale with plenty of neat POIs, including urban areas, rivers, and more.
Not to be forgotten, Rebirth Island is getting some fresh tweaks, too. All in all, it could be a great season to be a Warzone player.
We’ll update this page as soon as Activision gives us anything new on Call of Duty Warzone Season 2.
Ask The Escapist
Both updates launch on February 5.
Both updates will be free, meaning they won’t split the playerbase like the map packs of old.
It wasn’t at launch, but as with any Call of Duty title, it’s still going to be popular with a core group of fans. Season 2 marks a great way for Activision to entice lapsed players back.
