The Orks are back again in Dawn of War IV, only this time with a faction overview trailer. After witnessing Gorgutz’s return to Kronus, we now have a deeper look at how the Orks play, featuring their cast of units, some returning and new compared to previous Dawn of War games.

Dawn of War IV Ork Units

The latest Ork-focused showcase reveals quite a few returning and new units to the video game adaptation. The units in the trailer are as follows:

  • Storm Boyz
  • Shoota Boyz
  • Squighog Riders
  • Flash Gitz
  • Deff Dreads
  • Gorkanaut
  • Gorgutz (Bad Moons Clan HQ)
  • Guzcutta (Snake Bites HQ) – he rides a squig rather than having power armor

The core of the main army from Dawn of War 1 is here, with the likes of the Storm Boyz, Shootas and Flash Gitz here. The three squads represent jetpack-themed fast attack melee units, alongside your standard shooters, and super heavy weapon teams with their heavy miniguns. The Flash Gitz look like they have a leader amongst the troop, doing some random stuff too.

In terms of the new additions, the Sluggas look like they are gone, instead replaced with a fast attack melee cavalry unit, with Orks riding the Squigs instead. Squighogs look like a nice addition to give Ork melee fans some options on the map.

In terms of vehicles, the Killa Kan and Squiggoth look gone. Instead, there’s the Gorkanaut, a supermassive robot that will lay waste with its flamethrower, or stomp and crush with its titanic metal carapace. If you want Killa Kan-like vehicles, the Deff Dreads have all the Orc viciousness you expect on walkers with several limbs, with deadly weaponry.

As for the HQs, it seems like there are options for different playstyles. Gorgutz is back as the main HQ, as revealed in the previous trailer, with his warboss-like power armor for the big WAAAGH pushes. On the other hand, there’s a new HQ for Guzcutta, who rides a Squig to make it a fast attack and raid-type playstyle. Both offer different styles, by the looks of things, to give some difference in playstyles ahead of release.

Of course, the Orks get the WAAAGH too, which looks like they increase the combat effectiveness, speed and overall hype of the Orks’ big pushes in the trailer.

All in all, the Orks look like they are back and meaner and greener than ever.
