Riot Games revealed League of Legends’ full patch preview for 26.3. The patch contains a few things we knew were coming, alongside some major balance changes for a lot of champions. For the most part, many of the changes are balancing champions that are relatively underperforming in most roles, alongside some huge balance changes to the extreme overperformers.

As posted on X, Riot Phroxzon did his usual patch preview rundown before the official patch notes arrived on the website. The notes offer a lot of insight into balance changes for champions, featuring jungle, mages and ADC underperformers. Often enough, you’ll get jungle buffs to champions for monster or early game damage, or in Nunu’s case, toning back his overnerfed from the previous patch. ADCs and mages are getting better stat growth to make them better laners, as they are underperforming, largely in solo queue at the moment.

The nerfs then target major OP picks, especially around Dusk and Dawn users like Ekko, Diana, Volibear and Varus. We knew this item was a problem as it dominated the fresh season launch almost immediately, as we wrote about Dusk and Dawn on January 9th

These are on top of the item getting some nerfs as well. The junglers building it tend to have their clear speeds reduced and flat damage changes. Meanwhile, Varus is getting targeted nerfs to make his armor scaling worse for counterplay, alongside lowering his AP Ratios to make Dusk and Dawn scale worse with it.

Dusk and Dawn itself is getting a buff to its HP from 300 to 350, but having the Spellblade effect damage lowered. It should make these picks less offensive but better for the AP fighter side of things.

Other major changes come to the meta game. Tower platings are changing to have easier to proc platings later into the game during sieges by affecting the AR/MR scaling. It should make towers go down quicker and make the first Baron even more lucrative for encouraging grouping.

There are also major changes to Aegis of Valor. Aegis of Valor now needs B ranks to trigger during autofills. C ranks were too easy to get, and as a result, it became easier not to lose ranking and encouraged auto-filling. So, players need to get to a B to show they at least did something if they lost on an autofill game rather than underperform and more or less be fine.

The patch also comes with the major ARAM Mayhem changes, with plenty of new augments and the set themes from them. We are also finally getting the major Mel changes coming in to make it easier to play against her Deflect and poking capabilities to reward skill level.

There’s plenty of changes coming, so you can check the individual balance changes above for interest.
