If you played those physics-based games back in high school, you know the ones you tried hiding in a browser tab back in ICT, you might have some fun this weekend. Half Sword is one of those silly physics-based games, albeit set in a medieval fighting pit with silly weapons ranging from tavern and household items to full-on knights with medieval armour and weaponry alike. For the last year or so, it has had a technical test demo, but come this Friday, Half Sword’s early access release time will trigger, and we can see the start of the main vision for the game.
If you’re looking to dabble with the game, The Half Sword release time is scheduled for January 30th at 18:00 GMT. This translates to roughly the following time zones below.

If you are opting in, the early access version will cost. Though, at the time of writing, that has not yet been decided. All we know via the game’s official Discord is that it will cost under $30, with an early access launch discount. Price will likely increase come full release, at least according to the version on the Epic Games Store’s FAQ section. The quote from the Discord is as follows:
“Price is still TBA. It will be less than $30 and the first two weeks of EA will feature a discount.”
If you’re coming in from the Technical Test demo, there are a few changes. The main stuff is new maps for the game, with what appears to be a tavern basement battle room with kegs lying around and poles. The game also showcases some better physics mechanics, with players grabbing heads and ramming them into the support beams. Oh, you can also break parts of the environment too, and watch objects cling onto your enemies.
If you’re into new weaponry, there are hints of a crossbow in there. Some weapons even have different stance mechanics now, so you can angle some weapons and even change grip positions on some of the longer blade weapons. If you’re into multiplayer, Half Sword will have split-screen play, which some community members mention can work on Steam Remote Play, as a workaround for online multiplayer. Though don’t go in fully expecting that to work properly, if at all.
The announcement comes with a trailer so you can check what is coming to the game that’s new.
