H M grants royal pardon to 334 prisoners

Muscat His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, the Supreme Commander, has issued a special royal pardon to 334 inmates convicted in various cases, the Royal Oman Police (ROP) announced on Saturday.

The beneficiaries include both Omani citizens and expatriates serving sentences in correctional institutions across the sultanate.

According to the ROP, the royal gesture coincides with January 11, marking the anniversary of His Majesty’s accession to the throne, and underscores his humanitarian approach and concern for the social and family circumstances of the inmates.

The pardon reflects His Majesty’s values of mercy and social cohesion, the statement added.
