Tehran, President Dr Masoud Pezeshkian of the Islamic Republic of Iran on Saturday received Sayyid Badr bin Hamad al Busaidi, Foreign Minister, during the latter’s official visit to Iran.
During the meeting, Sayyid Badr conveyed the greetings and best wishes of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik to President Pezeshkian and the Iranian people. In return, the Iranian President asked Sayyid Badr to convey his heartfelt greetings and best wishes to His Majesty the Sultan and the people of Oman.
The meeting reviewed the strong bilateral relations between the Sultanate of Oman and the Islamic Republic of Iran, and discussed ways to further enhance cooperation in various fields in a manner that serves the common interests of the two countries and strengthens the principles of good neighbourliness.
The two sides also exchanged views on a number of regional issues related to security and stability. They stressed the importance of fostering an atmosphere of trust and cooperation in the region and adopting dialogue and diplomatic approaches as the primary means to address current challenges, in order to reduce tensions, respect the sovereignty of states and reinforce the foundations of regional peace.
President Pezeshkian expressed Iran’s appreciation for the constructive role played by the Sultanate of Oman in supporting efforts aimed at reaching balanced understandings that contribute to regional stability.
For his part, Sayyid Badr expressed his appreciation to the Iranian President and leadership for their support of these efforts, as well as for the course of negotiations aimed at promoting peace and strengthening the pillars of security and stability in the region and the world.
