This article contains Coronation Street spoilers for the episode dated Wednesday January 21 which hasn’t yet aired on ITV but is available to watch on YouTube and ITVX.
We are one step closer to finally having Carla Connor (Alison King) and Lisa Swain (Vicky Myers) back together in Coronation Street, and Swarla fans couldn’t be more thrilled.
Our hearts were broken when Carla and Lisa split up towards the end of last year and have been hoping they will reunite ever since.
Their relationship was doomed from the moment Lisa’s wife, Becky Swain, returned from the dead last summer.
Just days after Carla and Lisa’s engagement, Becky showed up like the second coming and threw everything into disarray.
Her manipulation tactics finally became too much for Carla a few months down the line and she and Lisa called things off.
Unfortunately, it only got worse for the factory boss from there. Determined to prove that Becky was up to her neck in illegal activities, she broke into her flat, only to be caught red handed and held captive there for weeks.
Thankfully, she survived the ordeal, which saw her denied access to her anti-rejection medication, and Lisa finally got to see Becky for who she really was.
Now that Becky is out of the picture, Carla and Lisa have struggled to move on from the carnage she left behind.
Carla was left devastated to learn that Lisa had slept with Becky after their breakup, and has refused to forgive her.
She very nearly had a change of heart earlier this week, but was put off by Tracy Barlow’s (Kate Ford) meddling.
In tonight’s episode, Lisa decided that enough was enough, and wrote Carla a love letter inviting her to the Bistro for lunch. She even bought her a bouquet of flowers.

However, Carla was stuck in a meeting with a ‘no phones at the table’ policy, leaving Lisa with nothing but a bottle of wine or three to keep her company.
Eventually, the detective decided that enough was enough and stormed into Carla’s meeting, upsetting her clients and redecorating the carpet. Not her finest moment.
Despite her display, it seemed that Carla was genuinely touched by Lisa’s confession of love, and made sure she got her home safely before letting her fall asleep on her lap.
It was then that Carla reciprocated the sentiments, telling Lisa she loved her too.
Will Carla have the courage to tell Lisa how she feels when she’s conscious, or is she set to pretend that it never happened?
