A man holding a giant machete was almost killed by a speeding vehicle in a London suburb – before laughing and trying to smash the car’s window.

The man was in Hanwell, London, when he was captured on CCTV footage holding the massive blade.

Suddenly, a white Mercedes appeared behind him and swerved into him, causing a stone wall to collapse.

Afterwards, the machete-wielding man was seen laughing and beginning to film the car, taking photos of its driver and trying to smash the windows in.

The car quickly reversed and drove away, but the incident has left locals shaken.

One man, who didn’t want to be named, told the Mail: ‘I think it was probably gang-related. They 100 per cent knew each other.

‘They were talking to each other, so they were clearly known to one another. They didn’t look very old, maybe 20-23. It is crazy, in the middle of the day on a Saturday too.’

Another resident said: ‘It was probably drug-related. Someone on the others’ territory or something like that.

‘They were obviously known to each other. Probably filming for some TikTok or something.

‘But this is a nice area and not something you want happening at the end of your street.’

Earlier this month, a man was seriously injured after a machete fight broke out on Oxford Street in the early morning.

Oxford Street was thrown into lockdown, and Bond Street station was also forced to close to New Year’s revellers.

One shop worker told Metro at the time: ‘This is a horrific incident. It’s a bad look for London with all the tourists seeing the police and not being able to shop at some stores. Takings are high on New Year’s Day so it’s a blow to businesses.’

Tourist Silvia, 28, from Portugal, told Metro: ‘I come to London for the New Year a lot. I love Londo,n but this is bad for the image of a city.’

In another harrowing incident, two masked men began fighting with machetes in a busy high street in East London last year.

They were both armed with huge blades, and one swung at his rival before he backed off.

Thankfully, neither of them landed a blow and the video soon came to an end.

A group of members of the public, some of them kids, were seen standing near a NatWest bank as the fight ensued.
