If you missed it last week, Will Wade accidentally caused a modest kerfuffle with some remarks he made during his radio show. He mentioned that he isn’t allowed to wear apparel with the slobbering wolf on it—like anyone else he’s disappointed he can’t don the school’s best logo—and also said that his decision to wear the STATE throwbacks to begin the year received some pushback from the branding folks.

This resulted in an assortment of hobby-free individuals FOIAing that email and discovering that the person who sent it went to East Carolina—no doubt resulting in some ugly messages sent her way.

Will Wade was taken aback by just how much of a thing this became, and had to spend a couple minutes last night telling everyone to please calm down.

Coach is still learning about the extent of the, uh, passion that exists within the fanbase and accidentally threw a log onto a fire that’s been burning for a while. It didn’t help that he referred to an innocuous email as “scathing,” but again, he didn’t realize he was hitting on such a hot-button issue. I must admit I did not see that FOIA coming. There are lessons to be had all around, clearly.

Some of this energy I thought we had dissipated with that demon-exorcising run in 2024, but I guess not. Will Wade will simply have to win a national championship in the next few years so that everybody can fully turn their attention to the present.
