The Tennessee Titans officially hired Brian Daboll as their next offensive coordinator, joining Robert Saleh's staff for 2026.

Born in Canada and raised by his grandparents in New York, Daboll began his coaching journey in 1997 as a volunteer assistant at William & Mary for one year, followed by two seasons as a graduate assistant at Michigan State before making the leap to the NFL.

Here are five things to know about the Titans' new offensive coordinator.

Veteran NFL coach

Daboll began his NFL career in 2000 when he was hired as a defensive assistant for the New England Patriots. In 2002, he became the Patriots' wide receivers coach before leaving for the New York Jets to become their quarterbacks coach. After two seasons with the Jets, Daboll was hired as the offensive coordinator for the Cleveland Browns. He held that position with the Miami Dolphins and Kansas City Chiefs over the next few years as well.

In 2013, Daboll returned to the Patriots as their tight ends coach. In 2017, Daboll returned to the college level and was the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach for the National Champion Alabama Crimson Tide. After one season with Alabama, Daboll returned to the NFL to be the offensive coordinator for the Buffalo Bills before becoming the head coach of the New York Giants in 2022.

Postseason experience and success

As part of Bill Belichick's staff with the New England Patriots, Brian Daboll is a five-time Super Bowl Champion. This cemented his credentials early in his career and paved the way for his ability to move up the ranks within the league. Daboll made nine total postseason appearances with the Patriots and added four more with the Bills. This kind of experience will be huge for the Titans' offense in 2026.

Breakout work with Bills

When Daboll joined the Buffalo Bills, he was ready. After decades without a postseason appearance, the Bills were desperate to become relevant again. Brian Daboll did that when he transformed their offense, with the help of Josh Allen, into one of the league's top-ranked units. He played a key role in developing Allen into the quarterback he is today, and he earned AP Assistant Coach of the Year in 2020.

What went wrong with the Giants

As head coach of the New York Giants, Brian Daboll earned AP Head Coach of the Year in 2022. He took the desolate Giants to their first postseason appearance in five years and their first postseason win in a decade, and everyone thought they were finally going to rebound. Except they didn't. The Giants declined after that, falling to 3-14 in 2024. After a 2-8 start in 2025, the Giants decided to part ways with Daboll.

Family first

Off the field, Brian Daboll is a known family man. He and his wife, Beth, have six children together. Daboll has said in the past that his family helps keep him grounded throughout the ups and downs of being an NFL coach.
