A British travel firm that sold flight and hotel holiday packages for Europe and Southeast Asia has gone into liquidation.

And if you’ve booked a trip with them, you’d better check the fine print.

Regen Central Ltd, which was founded in 2011 in Hertfordshire before relocating its headquarters to London, lost its Air Travel Organisers’ Licensing (ATOL) on January 13.

This is the UK government-backed financial protection scheme when consumers book a package trip that includes a flight. Required for tour companies in the UK, it ensures customers receive refunds or repatriation if the company collapses.

Regen, which also operated under brands including One Hajj & Umrah
and Oneworld Travels, ran packages to Italy, Bali, and Thailand, as well as Middle Eastern destinations, including Dubai and Saudi Arabia.

The websites selling these tours were still live as of January 15.

The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) said it understands that Regen Central Ltd had no outstanding ATOL-protected bookings.

It added that bookings sold as accommodation only, non-flight packages, and flight-only bookings are not protected by the ATOL scheme.

The CAA said the next step is for the company to begin liquidation proceedings.

Customers who booked invalid travel packages are asked to sit tight until the agency provides information on how to submit refund claims.

Anyone who believes they are owed a refund for an ATOL-protected booking should contact them via email at [email protected].

What other UK travel companies have gone bust?

Regen Central Ltd isn’t the only tour company to suffer this fate.

The rise of self-booking and intense online competition from bigger companies has put smaller operators under pressure.

Great Little Escapes, a Berkshire-based travel agent, ceased trading in June 2025. The company traded under the names Your Holidays, Great Little Escapes, Tunisia First and used four associated websites.

Elsewhere, Jetline Holiday ceased trading as an ATOL holder in March 2025, after Princess Cruises, Holland America Line and Cunard cancelled future bookings made through the company.

Similarly, New Era Travel, a two-branch local Hampshire agency, operating trips to destinations such as Spain, Australia, and Las Vegas, also went into liquidation in November last year.

Travel companies that went into liquidation in 2025

It’s not just UK companies, either. Smaller global agencies have gone into liquidation, too, due to major partners going bankrupt and companies from other countries with bigger financial resources infiltrating local markets:

Unitravel Kft: The Budapest-based tour operator was established in 2007 and was one of the largest in the country before ceasing trade in July 2025. The company sent tourists to resorts in Greece, Italy, Portugal, Bulgaria, and Spain. Its sudden closure left tourists on agency packages to the Greek islands uncertain of how to get home.

Unitravel Kft blamed ‘new, foreign companies entered Hungary with huge financial resources, offering incredibly low prices and extremely aggressive marketing.’

MixxTravel: The Malmö-based travel company was declared bankrupt by a judge in August 2025 and was forced to cancel trips and cease trading. Again, thousands of travellers were left in limbo across Greece and Turkey.

Tango Travel: The Icelandic tour operator went into liquidation in November 2025 after its partner Play Airlines filed for bankruptcy and ceased trading in October 2025.

Vegas Vacations: Canadian agency Vegas Vacations was notified by Consumer Protection BC that they could no longer trade on January 9 2026. Cancelling its business license immediately, they said that the company ‘does not have sufficient working capital to be reasonably expected to operate as a travel service business.’
