Muscat – The National Committee for Emergency Management (NCEM), in coordination with relevant authorities, will carry out a two-day exercise – National Readiness 2025 – in Muscat governorate starting Tuesday.
The drill aims to enhance the preparedness and operational efficiency of response teams, while strengthening joint coordination and integration among the various agencies involved in emergency management. It seeks to ensure a comprehensive and effective response to potential emergencies, contributing to the protection of lives and property and reinforcing public safety and national security.
A NCEM meeting held last week concluded with several decisions, including adoption of a unified framework for communication and information-sharing among basic services sub-sectors during emergencies. The committee also approved updates to the national emergency management plan for the Basic Services Sector to reflect recent developments and align it with the sector’s emergency management policy. Additionally, members agreed to restructure working sub-committees and establish clearer coordination mechanisms among sub-sectors.
