Muscat – Dar al Atta’a has contributed RO200,000 to Oman Charitable Organisation (OCO) as part of ongoing humanitarian efforts to support the Palestinian people, particularly those affected by the continuing crisis in Gaza.
The donation forms part of a series of relief campaigns by the association since the war broke out in October 2023, aimed at easing the suffering caused by displacement, harsh weather conditions and the severe shortage of shelter, food and basic necessities.
The funds were handed over by Maryam bint Issa al Zadjali, Founder and Chairperson of Dar al Atta’a, to Badr bin Mohammed al Zaabi, COO of OCO.
The amount was raised through a public fundraising campaign involving citizens, residents and supporting institutions, reflecting widespread solidarity with the Palestinian cause and the humanitarian plight of Gaza’s population. Thousands of families in the enclave continue to endure the effects of conflict, forced displacement and extreme winter conditions, particularly in overcrowded refugee camps.
Maryam appreciated the contributors’ gesture which helped ensure the success of the campaign. “The initiative, launched under the banner ‘For You, Palestine’, was driven by a collective sense of responsibility to stand with the people of Gaza during one of the most challenging periods in their history.”
She added that the campaign was implemented in coordination with OCO, the officially mandated body responsible for managing overseas humanitarian assistance and ensuring the safe and effective delivery of aid to beneficiaries.
Zaabi praised Dar al Atta’a for its professionalism and transparency, describing it as a trusted partner in humanitarian work. He said the collaboration reflects Oman’s longstanding commitment to humanitarian relief efforts beyond its borders.
He noted that Oman has consistently played a lead role in supporting communities affected by natural disasters, conflict and humanitarian crises worldwide. The funds raised by Dar al Atta’a, he said, will be channelled to Gaza through official mechanisms and allocated according to priority needs, including food, medical supplies and shelter support.
