FanDuel says it will stop taking credit card deposits for its Sportsbook, Casino and Racing platforms across the country beginning March 2, 2026. The change applies everywhere it operates in the United States and covers every type of credit card funding, including cards connected through digital wallets such as Apple Pay, PayPal and Venmo.
Customers who currently use credit cards will need to switch to other options. The company is directing players to alternatives such as debit cards, direct bank transfers and other approved payment methods listed in their accounts.
In a notice posted to its support page, FanDuel explained that it reviewed its payment offerings for several months before deciding to make the move. The company said removing credit cards would âimprove the deposit experience for our customers.â

The shift puts FanDuel in line with chief rival DraftKings, which rolled out its own nationwide prohibition on credit card deposits in August 2025. Analysts who follow the industry say the decision reflects mounting concerns about the added costs and complications that often come with credit-based transactions.
When bettors use credit cards to fund gambling accounts, card issuers frequently treat those payments as cash advances. That can trigger immediate interest charges, higher fees and additional costs sometimes described as âjunk fees.â Those expenses can quickly inflate the real price of placing a wager.
Senator Warren praises FanDuel credit card move
U.S. Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) publicly welcomed FanDuelâs decision, framing it as a win for consumers who may not realize how costly credit card deposits can become.
In a recent social media post, Warren said she had pressed major sports betting companies about reports that customers were being hit with steep fees. She pointed to an example in which a bettor faced a $10 âjunk feeâ to fund a $20 wager.
âGlad to see Fanduel take action to protect consumers from these junk fees, joining DraftKings. The rest of the industry should follow suit.â
Her remarks echo concerns raised by consumer advocates and some lawmakers who argue that credit card-funded gambling can amplify financial risks, particularly for players who carry balances or are unaware of cash-advance terms.
Despite the moves by FanDuel and DraftKings, not every major operator has followed suit. Companies, including BetMGM and Caesars, still permit credit card deposits in many states where they operate.
At the same time, regulators in several states have already stepped in. Massachusetts, Iowa and Illinois prohibit the use of credit cards for gambling deposits, and lawmakers in states such as New York and New Jersey have considered similar restrictions.
FanDuel has pointed to its broader responsible gaming efforts as part of its approach. Through its âPlay with a Planâ program, the company offers tools that allow users to track activity, set spending limits and receive deposit notifications.
