ABUJA — Former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir Ahmad El-Rufai, condemned what he described as an illegal attempt to arrest him at Abuja airport upon his return from Cairo.
In a statement released by his lawyers, El-Rufai said the incident highlights a growing concern over executive overreach and the deliberate disregard for the rule of law in Nigeria.
“My lawyers have issued a statement that condemns the illegal attempt to arrest me today at the Abuja airport upon my arrival from Cairo,” he said. “Our country must outgrow executive overreach and deliberate disregard for the rule of law.”
The statement comes amid heightened tensions over El-Rufai’s political activities and previous warnings he had made about potential legal actions against him.
