Nothing solves child boredom quite like a trip to the park.
Kids can spend hours mastering the monkey bars, reaching for sky on the swings, and going dizzy on the roundabout.
There are more than 27,000 green spaces and parks across the UK — but one certainly stands out among the rest.
Lilidorei, based at The Alnwick Garden in Northumberland, isn’t just a fantastical land full of fairytale characters, it’s also the world’s largest play structure.
As kids enter the park — which cost a staggering 15 million to build — they’re met with a colourful village, home to creatures such as fairies, elves, and hobgoblins.
Kids up to the age of 11 can explore the huge area, climbing a castle that reaches heights of 26m. There are 170m of rope bridges, as well as ladders and swings and six different slides to fly down— the highest of which is 24m.
‘Lilidorei is a magical, mysterious village full of play and home to nine clans who worship Christmas,’ reads the website.

‘They are ruled by Lord Elfwin, King of Lilidorei who lives in Elfwin Drin, the biggest play structure in the world.’
There are also staff members, aka ‘secret keepers’ around who explain the fictional world to excited children — and are on hand to keep everyone safe.
It’s estimated that kids can be entertained for up to three hours in the park, which was designed by the Duchess of Northumberland, but adults won’t exactly be twiddling their thumbs.
There’s food and drink lodges, and a gift ship where you can buy souvenirs. And let’s not forget that the park is within the grounds of Alnwick Castle, where the exterior shots for Hogwarts in the Harry Potter franchise were filmed.
The park even hosts over 18s adults night, inviting grown-up kids to play after dark.
And, since opening in May 2023, kids and adults alike have raved about the record-breaking spot.
‘The whole experience exceeded all expectations,’ wrote one woman on TripAdvisor who visited with her two grandsons. ‘The staff were incredible, entering into the spirit of the adventure at all times. We were there for 4.5 hours.’
And a second added: ‘Lilidorei is an enchanting place, that feels like a fairytale come to life.
The play structure is incredible, and appeals to children’s imaginations & sense of adventure.’
Meanwhile on TikTok, a video by @dayoutwiththekids has been liked more than 227,000 times, with commenters saying they can’t wait to visit.
‘Sod the kids I want to go,’ wrote one excited viewer. While another joked: ‘Will it look weird if I, an unmarried, childless grown woman, go alone?’
When does Lilidorei open for 2026?
Lilidorei has now reopened for 2026, welcoming guests from Wednesday, February 11, every Wednesday to Sunday, from 10am to 4pm.
Then, from Saturday, February 14, at the start of half-term, it will open every Monday to Sunday, from 10am to 4pm.
Timings will then change slightly again, from Monday, February 23, to Thursday, March 26, when the play park will be open every Wednesday to Sunday from 10am 4pm.
Finally, from Friday, 27 March, it will be open every day, from 10am to 5pm.
How much do tickets for Lilidorei cost in 2026?
All children must be accompanied by an adult. Tickets are currently available to buy online, but how much you pay will depend on when you go, and for how long.
If you’d like to head to Lilidorei for February half term, a full day ticket on Wednesday, 18 February, which grants access to both the play park and the surrounding gardens costs £15.40 for an adult, and £11.55 for a child.
While the play park is sure to be popular this summer, some visitors have cautioned that it’s quite an expensive trip
Another review on TripAdvisor said that while Lilidorei is ‘decent, and clever, and well-thought-out’ he added that it’s ‘possibly not the greatest in the value for money department.’
More information about pricing, and how to book your ticket, is available via the Lilidorei website.
