I may be Dry January, but Wetherspoons is hoping to make it a little more damp, tempting punters in with some exceptionally low prices.
The pub chain’s big January sale sees Worthington’s beer reduced to as little as 99p a pint and Johnnie Walker Black Label Whisky or Tanqueray gin at £1.99 (25ml including a mixer) across more than 600 of its UK locations.
There’s also 250ml glasses of Coldwater Creek wine for £2.99, with Chardonnay, Pinot Grigio, Rosé, and Merlot available as part of the deal.
Don’t worry if you’re sticking to sobriety though; non-alcoholic drinks like Guinness 0.0, Corona Cero, BrewDog Punk AF, Stella Artois Alcohol Free, Erdinger Isotonic, Thatchers Zero, Kopparberg Alcohol Free and Gordon’s 0.0 pink gin are also all on offer for £1.69 each.
And that’s not all…
As well as drinks, Wetherspoons is offering discounted food too, including an 11-inch Margherita Pizza and a crunchy chicken burger with chips or salad for £4.99 with a soft drink, or £6.52 with an alcoholic drink.
Alternatively, the hospitality giant’s recently-expanded jacket potato range is also available in the sale.
Customers can choose from a jacket potato with one filling (tuna mayo, coleslaw, chilli bean non-carne, cheese, baked beans and roasted vegetables) for £4.99 with a soft drink, or £6.52 with an alcoholic drink. Or, if you’re feeling fancy, tuck into one of three gourmet jacket potatoes for £6.49 with a soft drink.
This new selection includes the Loaded Spud, topped with cheese, maple-cured bacon, garlic butter and sour cream, the Mexican Spud, with chilli bean non-carne, cheese, guacamole, crushed tortilla chips, sliced chilli and coriander, and the Smoky Spud, with pulled BBQ beef brisket, cheese, smoky chipotle mayo and sliced chilli.
These sale prices will be available at over 600 Wetherspoon pubs across the UK, but prices at the chain’s other 200 pubs may vary, so you’ll want to double-check if your local is participating before you go.
Explaining the company’s decision to drop its prices at this time of year – when many are cutting back on drinking and eating out – founder and chairman, Tim Martin, said: ‘Department stores and shops hold their sales in January, so it is the perfect time to also have a sale in the pubs.
‘The range of food and drinks on sale in the pub is aimed at suiting a wide variety of tastes. We have included a large selection of low-alcohol and non-alcoholic drinks, and I believe that this January sale will prove popular with customers.’
He added: ‘As always, staff at the pub will serve customers responsibly.’
Just make sure you remember to drink responsibly, too.
