If you have played a Reigns game before, and have even the most fleeting, passing interest in The Witcher, then this latest collab that Nerial and Devolver Digital have hooked up will make you smile.

Teaming up with CD Projekt Red, Reigns: The Witcher will bring a new version of the popular swipe ’em-up featuring Geralt as swiper-in-chief, and you can read Em’s first impressions of the game right here.

Swiper no swiping

“In this new twist on the White Wolf’s legend, players step into the muddy boots of famed monster slayer Geralt of Rivia. But rather than chronicling his journey in grizzled grunts and sword swings, Reigns: The Witcher spins the tale through the gilded tongue of Geralt’s oldest friend: Dandelion the Bard. Every choice is a verse, every misstep a stanza and every bath an opportunity for a ballad.”

Credit to whoever wrote the press release. I don’t think I have seen the word ‘stanza’ in any game blurb before. We are dealing with the educated here.

Since the OG Reigns, we have had several spin-offs now, and the fact that they manage to keep the game so cheap and cheerful has helped the devs build up a nice little audience. We have had a Game of Thrones one previously, but there is no reason it can’t spin off into things like Star Wars and the likes if they continue making a success of them.

Reigns: The Witcher has a release date set for February 25 and will be available on PC on Steam and mobile at launch.
