Makinde lied that I’m holding PDP for Tinubu – Wike

In today’s Nigerian newspapers review programme, Today in the News, Vanguard leads with reports on FCT Minister Nyesom Wike criticising Governor Seyi Makinde over claims that Wike pledged to “hold” the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for President Bola Tinubu.

Another headline states that British-Nigerian boxer Anthony Joshua narrowly survived a fatal road accident near the Sinoma/Makun axis, Sagamu, on the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway, but two of his team members were killed.

Vanguard also reports that Peter Obi said he is better prepared to address Nigeria’s economic and security challenges if given the opportunity.

Moving to another newspaper, The Guardian reports that Nigeria’s power grid suffered another collapse as electricity generation fell to 231.50MW, causing widespread blackouts and cutting supply to most distributing companies.

Next paper, The Punch leads with the military tracking Boko Haram and ISWAP fighters as they flee their hideouts after the recent US airstrikes.

Finally, The Nation reports that the Presidential Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms Committee has dismissed claims that the new tax laws will sharply increase airfares.
