A German man spent years drugging and raping his wife without her knowledge – then posted videos of his crimes in group chats.

The man, named only as Fernando P, 61, will spend eight-and-a-half years behind bars after he was accused of crimes spanning 15 years and he was convicted of offences between 2018 and 2024.

According to CNN, the court said he violated ‘the most intimate sphere of private life and of personal rights through image recordings in 34 cases, including in four cases in concurrence with aggravated rape and dangerous bodily harm’.

The rapist was also convicted of aggravated sexual coercion and sexual assault charges.

The court said in a statement that he ‘repeatedly secretly sedated and sexually abused his wife in the marital home’.

It also said he ‘filmed the acts and made the recordings available to other users in group chats and on internet platforms’.

The defendant was acquitted on some other charges – however the court has not released details about what these were.

He has one week to appeal the judgement.

CNN reports the horrific case has been likened to that of Dominique Pelicot.

One year ago his wife Gisele, 73, broke her silence how her husband drugged and invited scores of men to rape her while unconscious over the course of 10 years.

Fifty-one men were jailed for their role in the decade-long abuse.

Addressing the crowd outside the court in Avignon following the trial, she said: ‘I am thinking of all the other families affected by this tragedy and all the unrecognised victims. We share the same fight.’

Gisele said she felt ‘very emotional’ and was thinking of her children and her grandchildren who stood beside her as the verdicts of her 51 abusers were read out.

‘For them [Gisele’s children and grandchildren] I wanted to put this struggle forward,’ she said, adding that she never regretted choosing to waver her anonymity.

Her husband was found guilty of repeatedly drugging and raping his wife for almost a decade – and inviting dozens of strangers to rape her.

He was handed a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison for his crimes.
