The Texas A&M track & field program is only a few weeks into the 2026 indoor season, but the Aggies have already positioned themselves among the nation’s best.

Both squads debuted inside the top 25 of the USTFCCCA rankings—continuing a long‑running trend of Texas A&M fielding nationally competitive indoor teams despite being best known for their outdoor dominance. The men opened the year at No. 5, while the women checked in at No. 11, signaling another balanced, high‑ceiling roster on both sides.

Through the early meets, three Aggies have already rewritten the school record book.

Freshman pole vaulter Lily Carlson has wasted no time making an impact. In just her second collegiate meet, she cleared 4.41m (14‑5.5) to break the Texas A&M indoor record previously held by All‑American Heather Abadie.

Senior thrower Henry Zimmerman delivered a milestone of his own, launching a 21.88m (71‑9.5) weight throw to set a new program record and continue his rise as one of the SEC’s top veterans.

Rounding out the early‑season surge is freshman distance standout Peter Narumbe, who broke Luca Santorum’s school record in the 1,000m with a time of 2:19.88. He also added a facility record in the 800m, clocking 1:47.24 to cap a breakout weekend.

As a group, the Aggies have already surpassed 100 top‑ten finishes and produced numerous medalists across their opening competitions. While they may not enter the season as the projected favorite for the NCAA Indoor Championship, this roster has the depth, youth talent, and veteran anchors to be a legitimate contender throughout the SEC slate and into March.
