Khasab – The Musandam Centre for Culture and Innovation in Khasab is nearing completion, with construction progress reaching 97.5%, officials have stated.
Abdullah bin Ahmed al Shehi, Assistant Head of Musandam Governor’s Office, said the project is scheduled for handover on January 31, 2026. This will be followed by the official opening and full operations of the centre, in coordination with relevant authorities.
He informed that the centre will serve as an integrated cultural and educational facility for the governorate, providing a platform that links local heritage with contemporary creative and cultural activities. The facility will host events, seminars, exhibitions and cultural evenings, alongside performances at an open-air theatre, supporting cultural tourism in Khasab and the governorate as a whole.
Shehi said the centre will also focus on supporting innovation and developing local talent, particularly among youth, through specialised laboratories and co-working spaces designed to help turn ideas into viable economic projects. Training programmes aimed at strengthening national skills and the creative economy will be implemented in cooperation with the Ministry of Education, in line with Oman Vision 2040.
He added that the centre’s programmes are being developed through partnerships with several entities, including the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth, the Ministry of Education and Oman Sail, offering activities spanning cultural, educational, sports and economic fields.
The project covers a total area of 10,500sqm, with a built-up area of 2,733sqm. Facilities include an education and innovation building, a cultural centre, retail outlets, water sports facilities operated by Oman Sail, an open-air theatre and a children’s play area.
