Muscat – Muscat Municipality has announced the Muscat Nights Drone Championship to be held from January 29 to 31 at Mall of Muscat, as part of Muscat Nights 2026.
The championship aims to spotlight the growing role of drone technology and promote innovation through community-based events, while offering a distinctive entertainment experience for visitors of all ages.
It will feature competitive races and aerial demonstrations, bringing together professional pilots and drone enthusiasts in a high-energy setting that highlights precision, speed and advanced control skills.
Muscat Municipality said the initiative reflects its commitment to introducing non-traditional events that combine educational and entertainment value, while providing a platform to support young talents interested in modern technologies. The event also seeks to raise awareness on the expanding applications of drones across various sectors.
The championship is expected to attract large numbers of families and youth, boosting footfall at commercial centres and supporting tourism and retail activity in the capital.
The drone championship complements Muscat Nights 2026, which also features large-scale drone shows. According to the civic body, up to 2,000 drones take to the skies each evening to deliver choreographed displays that narrate the identity, values and transformations of Muscat governorate.
At Qurum Natural Park, the performances have drawn enthusiastic crowds, with illuminated formations captivating audiences of different nationalities and ages.
