Nizwa Dates Industrial Complex opens, boost for agri-food infra

Muscat – The Oman Agriculture Development Company (OADC), a subsidiary of Oman Food Investments, has inaugurated the Nizwa Dates Industrial Complex, marking an important addition to the sultanate’s agri-food infrastructure and value-added industries.

The project reflects OADC’s strategy to invest in initiatives with direct economic and social impact, while strengthening the local dates processing industry in line with international best practices and standards.

Spread over a built-up area of about 35,000sqm, the complex has an annual production capacity of 30,000 tonnes in its current phase. It also offers storage capacity for 30,000 pallets, with a range of options including frozen, chilled and dry storage to meet different market requirements.

Processing halls covering around 18,000sqm house the full range of post-harvest operations, from receiving and weighing to sterilisation, storage, sorting, packaging and processing. All stages are carried out in accordance with stringent quality control and food safety requirements.

According to OADC, the facility has secured several international quality certifications and incorporates environmentally sustainable solutions, including the use of solar energy and water recycling systems, reinforcing its commitment to sustainable agricultural and industrial development.
