The Traitors is dead. Long live The Traitors.
Yes, in the blink of an eye, the fourth season of The Traitors has come to an end.
But before you rush to change the channel and see what’s happening on ITV or U&Dave (spoilers, it’s Top Gear), you should know that a new Traitors series is already on the way.
The Traitors Ireland, hosted by Derry Girls star Siobhan McSweeney, finally launched on BBC One and iPlayer on January 24 at midnight.
That means if you’re reading this, you could be watching a brand new series full of murder, mayhem and another thing beginning with ‘M’.
If you’re wondering what makes The Traitors Ireland as good as its UK predecessor, well, we’ve got you covered.
What do we know about The Traitors Ireland?
Despite the difference in name and presenter, the rules of The Traitors Ireland are 99% the same, much like the other international versions on TV.

’24 players face off in Ireland’s ultimate murder mystery game,’ reads the synopsis for the series, which was originally broadcast on RTE in August 2025.
Among the group of 24 will be three Traitors, who are – as always – aiming to make it to the end of the game undetected while the number of contestants dwindles each week.
The Faithfuls, meanwhile, have got to keep adding to the prize pot while hoping to root out all of the Traitors in their midst; otherwise, they risk losing the money altogether.
One big difference is in the prize money – while the current contestants on The Traitors are aiming to win up to £120,000, the winner of The Traitors Ireland will win a maximum prize of €50,000 (£43,000).
Instead of Ardross Castle in Scotland, The Traitors Ireland takes place at Slane Castle in County Meath, which is around an hour’s drive north of the capital city Dublin.

The series was announced in early 2024, while Siobhan McSweeney was confirmed as host in December of that year. Filming took place in mid-2025.
According to figures reported by Irish publication The Journal, it broke into the top 10 for TV shows in Ireland in 2025, with more than 800,000 viewers, on average.
What Traitors versions are available to stream?
Currently, there are four versions of The Traitors that are available to stream on BBC iPlayer.
This includes:
- The Traitors UK
- The Traitors US
- The Traitors Australia
- The Traitors New Zealand
The Irish spin-off will be coming soon to the platform, but one version that is currently not on the BBC is The Traitors Canada.
That means around 15% of Ireland’s population tuned in to watch, which would be equivalent to 10.5million viewers if the show had been broadcast in the UK.
The BBC will certainly be hoping for those kinds of numbers when The Traitors Ireland begins broadcasting in the UK this week.
