Lily Allen has given a surprising update as she starts the new year with an alarming near miss with a HGV.

Following the cultural moment that was her comeback album, Lily, 40, appears to have spent much of January relaxing ahead of her tour.

Among her sunbathing snaps and other jealousy-inducing holiday photos, there was a picture of her car with the paint scraped off.

‘Could have done without an HGV running me off the road, but other than that, a relatively good start to 2026,’ Lily quipped.

Her Porsche looked a little worse for wear, with the all-black vehicle sporting silver scratches across the door and back wheel arch on the driver’s side.

Lily added she was ‘happy to be alive’ and, in a nod to a recent trend, joked she was also happy ‘to not be posting any photos taken in 2016’.

The West End Girl singer was a very different woman a decade ago, still in the grips of drug and alcohol addiction.

She was also married to Sam Cooper, who she later divorced in 2018 before beginning her relationship with David Harbour.

Famous friends commented in support of Lily, including influencer Sam Morris, who teased: ‘Does Madeline drive an HGV?’

Madeline was, of course, a reference to Lily’s huge comeback album, which saw her lay bare the demise of her marriage to the Stranger Things actor.

In her lyrics, she questions ‘who is Madeline’, the woman her partner is secretly playing tennis with… among other things.

After the album dropped, Natalie Tippett revealed to The Mail on Sunday that she was the woman being referred to in the song and that Lily used her private messages as lyrics.

She later took to social media, denying that there was any affair and saying she felt violated by the twisted narrative that’s been portrayed.

Natalie denied having a ‘three-year affair’ and criticised the ‘weaponising of women against women for the behaviour of men, especially not in an open relationship.’

According to Lily’s lyrics, the pair were in an open relationship but had ‘an arrangement’, requiring no emotional connection and ‘payments’ for sex.

Lily repeatedly suggests she felt uncomfortable with the setup, which began when she moved back to London for her West End debut, but was trying to make her marriage work.

Natalie continued: ‘I’m aware of the repercussions of speaking out on this may cause, but I can’t imagine anything worse than what’s already been said, as well as having to watch someone profit off painful lies…’

She added as a reminder to followers that she is a ‘single mother’ to a daughter who is under three years old.

Closing her message, she added she wanted people to ‘remember’ she is a human and ‘not some character someone created.’

Lily’s West End Girl era is far from over, with reports of an actual play on the way as well as her mammoth tour.

She’s set to play 23 dates in Spring as well as headlining Bilbao BBK festival and Mighty Hoopla in the summer.
