Coronation Street’s controversial grooming story is about to take another shocking turn when abuser Megan Walsh (Beth Nixon) discovers that she is pregnant… and the father could be Will Driscoll (Lucas Hodgson-Wale), the underage teenager she coerced into a sexual relationship.
Her job as a sports coach enabled Megan to successfully inveigle her way into Will’s life, using her position of authority to win over his family. So important is the youngest Driscoll’s athletic career, that his grandmother Maggie Driscoll (Pauline McLynn) agreed with his stepmum Eva Price (Catherine Tyldesley) to pay Megan to commute from Hull to Manchester each week just to give Will some one-on-one sessions.
With the very best of intentions, they obliviously gave Will’s abuser direct access to her victim.
The audience is only too aware that Megan is a paedophile who manipulates and conditions her victims, but from Will’s perspective, they are in love.
He’s over the moon to have landed a sexy older woman and reluctantly keeps their relationship a secret because he doesn’t want to get her into trouble. But Will doesn’t take kindly to staying under the radar. All he needs is one little push…
Like all abusers, Megan is painfully insecure with a constant need to elicit validation from those they coerce. She has made Will jump through hoops, such as agreeing to a long-distance relationship or keeping secrets from his family, to ‘prove’ that he’s serious about her.
In this regard, she was playing with fire by flirting with Daniel Osborne (Rob Mallard), who’s clearly got a thing for her. That’s part of the reason he gave her a job at Weatherfield High.
Over Christmas, the calculating abuser brought Daniel to the Driscolls Christmas dinner so nobody would suspect how close she is to Will – and to drive her ‘boyfriend’ will with jealousy.
This worked better than Megan could have imagined when Daniel brutally assaulted by a mystery attacker on Boxing Day – who turned out to be none other than Will, consumed with jealousy to think another man is trying to get with his girlfriend.
But Megan isn’t Will’s girlfriend. She’s using their power imbalance to keep him in check with a meticulous balance of carrot and stick.
Recent scenes left fans horrified when Will celebrated his sixteenth birthday, where he declared he was “finally legal now” before taking Megan to a hotel room where she took his virginity. ‘Let’s go to bed’. She told him. ‘I love it when we’re alone. No-one will ever love you as much as I do.’
When the shocking scenes aired, fans flocked to social media with some pretty compelling theories on the dark direction this story was taking.

‘Imagine if Megan and Daniel get together and Megan becomes pregnant with Will’s baby. That would really complicate things,’ Corrie fan Ryan wrote on Twitter/X.
On a Facebook fan page, another eagle-eyed viewer had the same thought, writing: ‘Anyone else notice the look on the coach’s face and touch her tummy in The Rovers? Could she be pregnant?’.
‘I think she’ll get pregnant when she sleeps with Will,’ another theorised.
Now it looks like Corrie Fans called it, as upcoming scenes will see events spiral out of Megan’s control. To celebrate young Bertie’s birthday, Daniel and Megan head into No.1 carrying a cake and presents, as a jealous Will glares at them.
Furious, Will confronts Megan and demands to know if she stayed at Daniel’s.
And just as things look like they can’t get any worse for Megan, during Bertie’s birthday party, Alya Nazir (Sair Khan) tells the birthday boy to get the candles out of her back… but Daniel accidentally goes in Megan’s bag… and pulls out a pregnancy test!
