As soon as we set eyes on Coronation Street newcomer Jodie Ramsey (Olivia Frances-Brown) in the special Corriedale episode we know she was going to bring drama.
We saw her tied up in the back of a van driven by Emmerdale villain Graham Foster (Andrew Scarborough). She escaped after the crash and ran into the woods, pursued by police officer Kit Green (Jacob Roberts).
Taken to the same hospital as Shona (Julia Goulding), Jodie was soon showing a keen interest in the Platts, the reason for which became clear when Shona introduced Jodie as her sister.
Corrie boss Kate Brooks gave us some background about the relationship between Shona and Jodie.
‘Their relationship as sisters is quite fraught and there’s a lot of history between them. There’s some kind of deep-seated resentment there as well. They love each other, they do have that bond and even though they’ve been estranged for a number of years that bond is still very strong.’
Sorry, this video isn't available any more.
It’s a bond that’s sure to be tested soon as Jodie has just been invited to stay at the Platts’ after David (Jack P Shepherd) found her having a panic attack in the hospital car park and discovered she had nowhere to stay.
But will he regret his decision?
It’s clear that Jodie is hiding a lot of secrets and when Shona notices some bruising on her wrist her sister is cagey about answering. She says she was escaping an abusive relationship but ended up being caught up in the car crash.
While Jodie tries to make herself useful to the family, spoiling Shona (who’s recently given birth to baby Harper) by making her lunch, it’s not long before she reveals a different side to her personality, accusing Shona of abandoning her with awful parents who never cared about her. In a sinister move, she bonds with David’s daughter Lily (Grace Ashcroft Gardner), but uses every opportunity to say bad things to her about Shona.
Jodie takes her sister to the cafe for breakfast, but Kit walks in and Jodie immediately panics and flees. Back at home Shona wants to know how Jodie knows Kit.
Not getting the answers she’s looking for, Shona later questions Kit and he tells her about finding Jodie in the woods on the night of the crash with her wrists tied. He says she was obviously terrified and seemed to be running away from someone.
Viewers see Jodie attending a domestic violence support group at the community centre. She listens to a woman called Ella describing the horrific abuse she experienced, and later Bethany (Lucy Fallon) finds Jodie at number 8 having a meltdown. Is it related to what she heard at the support group?

And how does Graham Foster fit into her story?
Kate Brooks promised us we’d soon get some answers.
‘We’ll find out exactly why she was in that van, we’ll find out what her link to Graham is. Graham was a character with a murky past who was capable of many things. For Jodie to be embroiled with somebody of that ilk kind of sheds a light on what kind of character she is and what kind of character to expect. We’ll reveal what went on between them and how Jodie ended up running for her life through a wooded area, and what Graham’s role was in it all.’
Meanwhile she told us to ‘keep an eye’ on Jodie.
‘All is not what it seems with Jodie and there’s a lot of layers to her. There’s lots of secrets to explode and she’s going to bring an awful lot of drama to the Platt household.’
