Emmerdale fans have picked up on an intriguing parallel between a new storyline, and a character who has returned from the dead.

During Monday’s episode of the ITV soap, we discovered drug dealer Ray Walters (Joe Absolom) has been murdered by someone. His body was then seen in the back of a van that was being driven by Jai Sharma (Chris Bisson) in Corriedale.

Also in the mammoth crossover event, Emmerdale’s Graham Foster (Andrew Scarborough) returned from the dead. All we know about him at the moment is that he was driving a van with a woman called Jodie tied up in the back.

Everyone (seriously, everyone) believed that Graham was murdered by Pierce Harris in 2020. Prior to the reveal, a whodunnit storyline aired that revealed why suspects including Marlon Dingle (Mark Charnock), Al Chapman (Michael Wildman) and Charity Dingle (Emma Atkins) all wanted Graham dead.

It was eventually confirmed that Pierce hit him over the head, and then fought Graham in the woods.

Pierce hit Graham with his car, leading to him falling off a cliff. Surprisingly, he survived this, but Pierce delivered one final blow to the head, and covered Graham’s body in leaves after.

As we wait for the storyline that will allow us to discover how and why Graham faked his death, we have another whodunnit plot to contend with – Ray’s.

Interestingly, Graham’s murder, the discovery of his body, and what followed after also aired in January, just like this new one with Ray at the centre.

Noticing the parallel, fans have taken to social media platform X to discuss this, amid ongoing theories that Graham is somehow linked to Ray and Celia Daniels’ (Jaye Griffiths) drug dealing and modern slavery operation.

The account RJ Clauds wrote: ‘Who killed Ray is happening exactly 6 years on from Who Killed Graham and Graham has just come back from the dead that’s why they are doing the parallels I don’t know why people are getting mad.’

Also picking up on the stories mirroring each other, this X user said: ‘So “Who Killed Ray?” is likely to be on the anniversary of Graham’s demise in 2020…that can’t be a coincidence…surely?’.

Audience members are continuing to speculate that Rhona Goskirk (Zoe Henry) has been communicating with Graham, and that she was the person who ultimately ordered Ray’s death.

Just like the Graham whodunnit storyline, we won’t have too long to wait until Emmerdale confirm who ended Ray’s life.

Show boss Laura Shaw recently told us: ‘Following the discovery of Ray’s body, villagers’ secrets will come out as the mystery surrounding Ray’s death is finally solved’.

‘Before the end of January, a special week will flash back to the night of the murder, revealing which of the multiple suspects is responsible for Ray’s demise.’

Reflecting on what Ray and Celia’s deaths mean for Paddy Kirk (Dominic Brunt) and missing father Bear Wolf (Joshua Richards), she added: ‘While Paddy is still out searching for his missing father, the bleak truth is that Bear has been killed by the villainous Celia.

‘This emotional search and tragic discovery will bring Paddy’s mental health problems back to the forefront.’
