With everything going on in the world, we can’t help but reminisce about the 90s, when things were simpler, and some of our favourite chocolate bars still existed.
There are a few retro treats we really miss, but one that was a real staple of our childhood was Nestlé’s Animal bars, which were axed in November 2023, after almost 60 years on the market.
The nostalgic milk chocolate treat featured two different named animals moulded onto the surface, and for those missing their fix of it, we’ve found something that might make things better.
Shoppers have spotted rare bars of Nestlé Jungly Figuritas on sale in Home Bargains for £1.49, which are an animal-themed sweet treat imported from Spain.
Like Animals, the Jungly chocolate is shaped into various wild animals, including lions and crocodiles; however, these are individual pieces, instead of a bar.
The other big difference between the discontinued version and these is that the Jungly figures contain biscuit pieces, as well as milk chocolate.
A product description on the Nestlé Family Club website says: ‘This bag contains figurines in the shape of milk chocolate animals and pieces of JUNGLY biscuits. 100% sustainably grown cocoa selected through Nestlé Cocoa Plan. Rainforest Alliance certified.’
And there are several different versions of the treat sold in Spain, including a chocolate bar version which comes in milk, white and dark chocolate options.
The bars have previously been available to buy in the UK in Poundland, as well as in Heron Foods and Farm Foods.
Images of the bars have been circulating on social media, causing Brits to reminisce about the lost 90s version.
‘Really nice, tasted like the old Nestlé chocolate,’ said Dianne Smith.
‘Like Animal Bars, I miss those,’ shared Christine Madge.
While Michael Thomson admitted they reminded him of the ‘old Wildlife Cadbury Chocolate bars from back in the 90s’.
‘OMG they remind me of animal bars,’ proclaimed Emma Murphy, as Rikia Uwu said: ‘Animal bars!! OMG I used to love them!! Six years ago, I would just get a slushy and them when out.’
Others said they were ‘lovely’, with Liza Kempster adding: ‘I bought some in Tenerife.’

This comes after M&S shoppers went wild over an own-brand chocolate product they claimed was ‘much better’ than the Cadbury version.
Easter treats have landed in the Foodhall, and customers can’t get enough of M&S Speckled Eggs, which are the retailer’s own-brand version of Mini Eggs. The chocolate eggs have a speckled candy shell finish, and they cost £1.75 for a 90g bag.
Fans have dubbed them as winners over Cadbury, with @AytenManyera on TikTok, saying: ‘You HAVE to try the classic Speckled Eggs. So much better than Mini Eggs, especially 10 secs in the microwave.’
And @Rosei_LisaJane agreed, writing: ‘M&S [ones] are banging.’
Cadbury lovers have also noticed a rare ‘premium’ chocolate bar being sold in the UK at B&M stores.
The product is Dairy Milk Velvet Salted Caramel, which is described as a ‘smooth and velvety milk chocolate with crunchy salted caramel pieces’.
What’s more, the packet proclaims it has 40% more cocoa and 25% more milk; as such, those who’ve tried it say it tastes ‘more premium’.
In addition to the caramel one, there’s also a Coconut Rough flavour, which contains toasted coconut.
