It’s Dry January, but that’s not stopping Wetherspoons from encouraging punters to grab a pint.
The pub chain has just launched a big January sale, with Worthington’s beer being reduced to as little as 99p a pint and Johnnie Walker Black Label Whisky or Tanqueray gin available for £1.99 (25ml including a mixer).
There’s also 250ml glasses of Coldwater Creek wine (Chardonnay, Pinot Grigio, Rosé, Merlot) for £2.99 and some non-alcoholic drinks like Guinness 0.0, Corona Cero, BrewDog Punk AF, Stella Artois Alcohol Free, Erdinger Isotonic, Thatchers Zero, Kopparberg Alcohol Free and Gordon’s 0.0 pink gin all for £1.69 each.
But that’s not all…
As well as drinks, there’s some discounted food on offer, including an 11-inch Margherita Pizza and a crunchy chicken burger with chips or salad for £4.99 (with a soft drink) or £6.52 (with an alcoholic drink).
A choice of six jacket potatoes, plus three new ‘gourmet’ jackets, will be available in the sale.
Customers can choose from a jacket potato with one filling (tuna mayo, coleslaw, chilli bean non-carne, cheese, baked beans and roasted vegetables), which will cost £4.99 with a soft drink, or £6.52 with an alcoholic drink. You can then add an extra filling or side salad for an additional 99p.
The gourmet jacket potatoes range costs £6.49 with a soft drink, and the selection includes the Loaded Spud, the Mexican Spud and the Smoky Spud.
The loaded spud is topped with cheese, maple-cured bacon, garlic butter and sour cream, while the Mexican one is loaded with chilli bean non-carne, cheese, guacamole, crushed tortilla chips, sliced chilli and coriander.
Finally, there’s the Smoky spud with pulled BBQ beef brisket, cheese, smoky chipotle mayo and sliced chilli.
These sale prices will be available at more than 600 Wetherspoon pubs across the UK. Prices at the chain’s other 200 pubs may vary, so you’ll want to double-check if the sale is happening at your local before you go.
The founder and chairman, Tim Martin, said: ‘Department stores and shops hold their sales in January, so it is the perfect time to also have a sale in the pubs.
‘The range of food and drinks on sale in the pub is aimed at suiting a wide variety of tastes. We have included a large selection of low-alcohol and non-alcoholic drinks.
‘I believe that the January sale will prove popular with customers.’
He added: ‘As always, staff at the pub will serve customers responsibly.’
And always remember to drink responsibly, too.
