This article contains spoilers for tonight’s Coronation Street, which has not yet aired on TV but is available to watch now on ITVX.
We’ve spent the past few days worrying that cupboard captive Carla Connor (Alison King) was set to become a closet corpse in Coronation Street, as Becky Swain’s (Amy Cudden) kidnapping plot hit terrifying new levels.
Since rising from the dead last summer, Becky has made it her mission to reclaim what she believes is rightfully hers – her estranged wife Lisa Swain (Vicky Myers).
She was quick to learn that the one major obstacle she faced was Carla, who not only held the key to Lisa’s heart, but was also the closest to uncovering Becky’s criminal acts.
When she caught Carla snooping around her flat for evidence, Becky made her move, and Carla found herself bound and gagged in an airing cupboard.
With Lisa and the rest of Carla’s loved ones under the impression that she had gone on a solo trip to Lanzarote and Becky in control of her mobile, things looked hopeless for Carla.
The one opportunity she had for escape was quickly thwarted when Becky caught her, and made out that she planned on leaving Carla without her anti-rejection meds and letting nature take its course.
However, Becky’s plan was derailed when she realised that Carla had managed to tell Betsy Swain (Sydney Martin) her exact location, using three random words disguised as a hotel and suite name.
Now aware that DC Kit Green (Jacob Roberts) was hot on Carla’s tail, Becky took action. By the time Kit got to the flat, there was no sign of the factory boss.
In tonight’s episode, with Becky in the wind with Lisa and Betsy, Kit doubled down on his efforts to find Carla.
His search led him to an abandoned area by the canal, where he began to fear that Becky had dumped Carla’s body in the water.

Thankfully, it hadn’t come to that. After having his attention drawn to a shipping container, Kit broke the lock and finally found Carla inside…
But don’t worry, we won’t spoil what state she’s in – you’ll have to tune into the episode to find out if Kit made it to her in time…
Later, in Becky’s car, Lisa picked up a phone call that had the scales finally falling from her eyes. As she demanded Becky stop the car, it proved too much of a distraction, and Betsy began to scream at the road ahead…
With this episode leading directly into Corriedale and the multi-vehicle pile-up that will claim lives, will Lisa and Betsy survive long enough to reunite with Carla? And will Becky face justice, or have her life cut short?
