If you’re coupled up and at home for Christmas, you’re probably either trying to figure out how to do the deed quietly – or steering clear completely, for fear of alerting your entire family to your antics.
There’s also the sheer decadence that comes with the festive period. Let’s be honest, we’re all too stuffed full of pigs in blankets, nut roasts and potatoes to do anything overly challenging in the boudoir.
So, if you’re looking for something fairly easy-going that’ll allow you to be intimate with your partner but doesn’t require a full-body workout, let us introduce you to one of the laziest sex positions out there.
No, it’s not missionary: it’s actually called the ‘exhibitionist.’ To be clear, we’re not talking about revealing yourself to the world (please don’t do that – it’s not very festive), but it’s a very out-there, exposed sex position.
How to do the ‘exhibitionist’ sex position?
As sex and relationships expert Ness Cooper tells Metro, when heads are banging after Christmas Day, sex is probably the last thing on your mind.
But before you get started on choosing a position, she’s got a few tips to make things more enjoyable in the bedroom if you’re suffering from an indulgent festive hangover.
She says: ‘Sex positions which require too much movement can heighten hangover symptoms, but sex itself – and orgasms – may help relieve some of these symptoms afterwards. Sex can release a load of hormonal and vascular responses, which can help reduce pain, including headaches.
‘Some people experience difficulty with orgasm, lubrication and sexual pleasure the day after heavy drinking. Alcohol may still be in your system, and using an alcohol calculator may help you time sex for when it’s out of your system, allowing you to experience more pleasure during play.

‘If you’re not getting anywhere the first time you try, have a nap, as this can help with prolactin levels, which can make it easier to orgasm and experience sexual pleasure. Stay hydrated, top up on those electrolytes, and treat any hangover-associated acid reflux.’
All in all, it’s fundamental that you pick sex positions which are easy to perform, as coordination can be impacted in the days after drinking.
Also known as the ‘happy baby’ pose (as there’s a yoga position with the same name), the ‘exhibitionist’ pose involves one partner lying on their back, and performing said position. And, as Ness says, the clue is in the name: it’s a very ‘exposed and exhibitionist position.’
Ness explains: ‘The other partner kneels, resting their buttocks on their feet, and shuffles towards their partner. The person in the baby pose can add a rocking motion during sex to heighten pleasure.
‘The sex position can be made easier by adding pillows under the person in the baby pose, and adding different pillows of different heights can also allow you to adjust the position for anal penetration.’
The benefits of the ‘exhibitionist’ sex position
As Ness adds, the ‘exhibitionist’ is ideal because it allows you to adjust the depth of penetration.
It’s also pleasurable for those with vulvas and vaginas, as it can provide ‘direct stimulation to the G-spot area, while allowing access to the clitoris.’
Ness advises: ‘This sex position is great for using a massage wand vibrator. Unlike other positions where these are too large to use, the exhibitionist allows room for use on the clitoris during vaginal penetration.
‘The only downside to this sex position is that the penetrating partner may feel left out, as they’re out of reach of their partner, which can lead to less variation in stimulation for them to experience.’
Other lazy sex positions for Boxing Day
If you’re feeling shy, the ‘exhibitionist’ isn’t your only option on Boxing Day. Ness also recommends another classic: spooning.
‘This sex position allows for controlled movement, where you’re able to support each other,’ she says.
‘Both lie sideways, with the person performing the penetration hugging the receiver from behind. This sex position allows for minimal head movement, while you’re still able to stroke and kiss the receiving partner’s neck and body.’
You can also try a seated sex position, which involves the penetrating partner sitting on a chair, and the receiving partner straddling them so that you’re both face-to-face.
Ness adds: ‘This position can be used easily with strap-ons, and even for non-penetrating sex toys wedged between both your genitals, as the person on top can grind away. You’re able to kiss and caress each other, and both necks are available, allowing for nuzzling and love bites.’
