Arab Shooting and Airgun Championship commences in Muscat

Muscat – Arab Shooting and Airgun Championship officially commenced on Sunday at the National Olympic Shooting Complex in Muscat, marking a prestigious gathering of elite marksmen and women from across the Arab world. Hosted by the Oman Shooting Association, the opening day of the 10-metre rifle and airgun competitions showcased exceptional talent across both junior and senior categories.

The United Arab Emirates enjoyed a particularly successful start to the tournament, with Fatima al Suwaidi securing the gold medal in the Junior Girls’ event and Ibrahim al Ali claiming the top spot in the Men’s Individual category. The Emirati contingent further solidified their dominance by winning the gold medal in the Men’s Team competition.

Host nation Oman also celebrated significant achievements on home soil. Khalid al Kalbani clinched first place in the Junior Boys’ category, while Hamad al Khatri earned a silver medal in the Men’s Individual competition. Additionally, the Omani Men’s Team secured a third-place finish.

In the women’s divisions, the Kingdom of Bahrain emerged as a powerhouse. Nouf al Dossari was crowned champion in the Women’s Individual event, supported by teammate Marwa al Omairi in third place. The Bahraini athletes also collectively secured the top position in the Women’s Team category, ahead of Kuwait and Qatar.

The championship continues to provide a vital platform for regional sporting excellence, fostering competition and camaraderie among the participating national teams.
