Roy Keane was left frustrated with one Manchester United player in particular after defeat to Aston Villa, coming out swinging for Diogo Dalot.

The Red Devils were beaten 2-1 at Villa Park, with Morgan Rogers scoring either side of a Matheus Cunha equaliser.

Ruben Amorim’s side were pretty good against the in-form home side, with very little between the teams, but ultimately came up short after two great goals from the England international.

Keane felt that there was a lack of intensity shown in both of Rogers’ goals, suggesting Dalot did not do enough to stop the attacks which came from Villa’s left flank.

‘They’ve got to be more intense when they’re defending, there’s got to be a bit more pride,’ Keane said on Sky Sports.

‘I look at Dalot there, he’s getting interviewed after the game. Dalot for the second goal, the intensity or desire to stop the cross. These are big moments in a football match. It ends up being a poor cross, but Aston Villa playing with confidence and belief, make the most of it.’

The Irishman added: ‘You can have all the talent in the world, we mention it time and time again but you’ve got to roll your sleeves up and when the game gets a bit tight or there’s moments, you just go, “I’m going to do my bit for the team.”

‘There’s too many players, like Dalot, who just don’t do enough. I won’t use the word “cheating” but they just not doing enough.

‘After the game I’d be looking at him, I wouldn’t be looking at other bits of the game. I’d say, “Are you going to stop him?”

‘Same for the first goal. When Rogers gets the ball wide on the first goal. We’re all sitting here. We know there’s danger, do they not know there’s danger?’

Dalot was indeed interviewed after the match, telling Sky Sports of the performance: ‘We had good moments in the game. We kept pressing them high and knew they wanted to play long and if we won the second ball we could control the game. I think we did it quite well in the first half with one or two chances.

‘They had a great first goal and credit to Morgan Rogers, it was a great goal. The second half we tried to do the same things. On the ball we were comfortable and could have tried to find the spaces in behind because they had a quite high line.

‘We did enough to score more goals. We couldn’t take the chances we had and that’s overall [story] for today.’

Another Manchester United defender, Leny Yoro, came in for criticism from a club legend, with Gary Neville suggesting he was at fault for Rogers’ first goal.

‘John McGinn fires it into him after a little wrestle with Luke Shaw and I just thought, as Yoro doesn’t go and close him down on that first touch… he ambles, Manchester United’s right centre-back,’ Neville said on Sky Sports.

‘I thought, “Uh oh, you could be in trouble here,” because Rogers can do that.

‘There’s no doubt Leny Yoro has to get out quicker, he has to make sure confronts him outside the box.

‘But once doesn’t, Rogers still has a lot to do and my goodness me does he do it!’
