We’re officially mere days away from Christmas, and if you’re preparing to head out and do the big food shop this weekend, you might want to make a detour to Marks & Spencer.

That’s because the retailer has just unveiled its festive desserts range for the big day and they officially launch in stores today (December 18).

These aren’t just any puddings, they’re M&S puddings and the selection includes a Sticky Toffee Trifle and Shimmering Clementine Cheesecake.

The line-up has been hailed ‘scrumptious’ by fans online who are already planning to ‘run’ and grab one of the decadent treats – I imagine it’s going to be carnage in the Foodhall this weekend.

What desserts does M&S have for Christmas?

First up, there’s an absolute Christmas classic returning to the shelves: the Best Ever Yule Log.

According to M&S, this sees a rich chocolate sponge filled with fresh vanilla cream, as well as milk and dark chocolate ganache. The whole thing is then topped with chocolate curl decorations.

Sticky Toffee Pudding lovers can now get a new twist on the icon with Sticky Toffee Trifle, featuring layers of sweet, caramelised sponge, toffee sauce, vanilla custard and British cream.

Next, there’s a ‘showstopper’ of a pud – the Shimmering Clementine Cheesecake, that has a creamy baked vanilla cheesecake base, with pockets of clementine sauce and a digestive biscuit base. To make it a little more festive, it’s then decorated with a clementine glaze and a gold dusting.

If you prefer something a little more traditional, then there’s the Raspberry and Sherry Trifle, with fresh raspberries, raspberry jelly, sponge laced with Amontillado sherry, custard and whipped cream.

And finally, those wanting to wow guests can crack out a stack of 32 Profiteroles, which is available from December 20 and M&S says is bound to be a ‘serious crowdpleaser’.

As you’d expect, the pastries are filled with cream and layered with a chocolate sauce and white chocolate drizzle.

The viral Christmas chocolate tin

This comes after Marks & Spencer went viral for its Christmas chocolate tin, that shoppers declared ‘better than Quality Street’.

The Big Mix costs £7 for a 650g carton or £12 for a huge 1.2kg tin and features a mix of 10 different sweets in colourful wrappers, suitable for vegetarians.

The selection includes Salted Caramel, Coffee Truffle, Hazelnut in Caramel, Cream Toffee, Milk Crème, Caramel Fudge, Strawberry Crème, Orange Crème, Biscuit in Caramel and a Butterscotch Éclair.

However, the retailer also came under fire for a Christmas product they were flogging for an eye-watering £195.

They launched a Beef Wellington with Tom Kerridge, that was hailed as the ‘ultimate showstopper’ for Christmas dinner.

Described as a ‘whopper of a Wellington’, the dish serves six people and features portobello mushrooms, chicken mousse duxelles and a hint of black truffle parceled up inside an all-butter hot water crust pastry, served with a beef and red wine gravy.

The Wellington has since sold out, but this didn’t stop people from sharing their thoughts on it, with some branding the price ‘ridiculous’ and ‘stupid’.

An M&S spokesperson told Metro: ‘The M&S Collection Tom Kerridge Beef Wellington has been a big hit with customers – it’s selling very well and we only have a few left on our Christmas Food To Order page.

‘Serving six people and weighing over 2kg, the hand-butchered British beef fillet is matured over 17 days and created as it would be in a restaurant – it’s the absolute best quality Wellington we’ve ever created.’
