Muscat – In implementation of Royal directives of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, Oman Charitable Organization (OCO) has sent thousands of tents to the Gaza Strip as part of the sultanate’s ongoing humanitarian assistance to families affected by the conflict.
The consignment was delivered in coordination with Oman’s Embassy in Cairo and the Egyptian Red Crescent, via the Egyptian land bridge that continues to channel relief aid into Gaza. The shipment aims to meet urgent need for shelter and help ease the suffering of displaced families amid the deteriorating humanitarian situation.
Mohammed bin Badr al Zaabi, Executive President of OCO, said the latest consignment included thousands of specially designed tents that meet high-quality standards to provide safe and secure shelter. He noted that the initiative reflects Oman’s longstanding humanitarian role and conveys a message of solidarity from the Omani people with their brothers and sisters in Gaza.
Zaabi added that OCO is intensifying its relief efforts in line with the growing needs inside the Gaza Strip, translating Royal directives into practical action by standing alongside those affected during this critical phase.
He further pointed out that OCO has so far operated 16 air lifts carrying relief aid, food supplies and shelter materials, reaffirming the sultanate’s continued commitment to humanitarian support for Gaza.
As part of follow-up field missions, Zaabi, accompanied by a delegation from OCO and the sultanate’s Embassy in Cairo, visited the Egyptian Red Crescent’s Logistics Services Centre in Arish. The delegation reviewed procedures for receiving, sorting and preparing aid for entry into Gaza, and commended the significant efforts of the Egyptian Red Crescent in facilitating humanitarian assistance.
Zaabi said the cooperation between OCO and the Egyptian Red Crescent is a model of joint humanitarian action, underscoring the shared commitment to deliver aid efficiently and swiftly as humanitarian needs in Gaza continue to rise.
