DBBS issues urgent appeal amid critical blood shortage

Muscat – Department of Blood Bank Services (DBBS) has issued a high-priority appeal for immediate blood donations following a significant decline in donor turnout. This drop in participation has resulted in a critical depletion of national blood stocks, threatening the medical community’s ability to support emergency cases and routine patient requirements. Health officials are urging the public to take immediate action to replenish these essential supplies.

To facilitate donations, the Central Blood Bank in Bausher is operating from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm between Saturday and Thursday, and from 8:00 am to 2:00 pm on Fridays. Additionally, the Seeb Blood Donation Centre is available for donors from Sunday to Friday, between 3:00 pm and 9:00 pm. Members of the public requiring further information can contact the department via WhatsApp at 94555648.
