Four people have died and four children are in hospital after a minivan crashed near the Victoria-NSW border.
The van was driving on Chapel Road in Muckatah, about 250 kilometres north of Melbourne, when the driver lost control and crashed into a tree at about 5pm yesterday.
Four passengers, believed to be adults, died at the scene.

Three children between the ages of 10 and 16 were airlifted to hospital, with two of them suffering from life-threatening injuries.
Another teenage girl was driven to a local hospital in a serious but stable condition.
The male driver of the van was airlifted to hospital, also suffering serious injuries.

Police suspect the people involved in the crash were fruit pickers local to the area, though this has yet to be confirmed.
The exact circumstances surrounding the crash are yet to be determined.
Police are probing whether the driver used the brakes in the lead-up to the crash.

Locals said the stretch of road where the accident occurred can be dangerous.
Ambulance Victoria said three air ambulances as well as Mobile Intensive Care Ambulance and Advanced Life Support paramedics were sent to the scene.
