Dallas Cowboys 2026 free agent wish list

The Dallas Cowboys just recently made their first big move, and arguably the most important, by naming Christian Parker as Matt Eberflus’ replacement as their new defensive coordinator. It’s going to be really interesting to see how Parker fills out his coaching staff in the next weeks, and how much input he’ll have on free agency, which is quickly approaching on March 11.

As a first-time DC there’s a bit of the mystery surrounding Christian Parker and exactly what kind of defensive scheme he’ll utilize. Knowing he comes from the Vic Fangio coaching tree gives us an idea about what we could expect, however, Parker may add his personal touch that makes things slightly different. Whatever the case, we all know he needs more help in order to give himself the best chance of succeeding.

The hope is Jerry Jones and Company will be much more active in free agency by actually adding some quality starters instead of shopping the “bargain bin” as they have recently. With that in mind, here is a free agent wish list of the players we would like to see them target. We approach this exercise with team “need” in mind and under the assumption they haven’t retained any of their pending free agents.

RB Breece Hall

While Javonte Williams had a good year with the Cowboys last season, Breece Hall would be an upgrade in Dallas. His versatility as a runner and receiver out of the backfield, as well as his game-breaking speed, would make Dallas’ offense much more dangerous and explosive.

WR Alec Pierce

Alec Pierce would be a great consolation prize if the Cowboys are unable to retain George Pickens for whatever reason. He’s one of the best deep threats in the entire league whose production will likely improved with better QB play, unlike the carousel he’s had to deal with during his time with the Colts.

DE Odafe Oweh

After a mid-season trade from the Ravens to the Chargers, things seem to finally fall in place for former first-round pick Odafe Oweh. He finished the season with a total of eight QB sacks and had a pass-rush win rate of 16.5% after arriving in L.A. He’s one of the better young pass rusher’s on the open market.

LB Devin Lloyd

Devin Lloyd was not only arguably be the best linebacker in the entire league in 2025, but he also happens to be the top free agent at his position. It’s unlikely the Cowboys pay the type of money he’ll command on the open market, however, he’d be a huge upgrade at the position if they did.

CB Alontae Taylor

Taylor could be an interesting chess piece for the Cowboys. He has the versatility to play outside CB or in the slot, which could allow Christian Parker to get really creative with his coverage scheme. He could be an invaluable asset that helps solidify Dallas’ secondary.

S Reed Blankenship

Not only is Blankenship one of the better free agent safeties this year, but he’s the one player on this list with ties to Dallas’ new DC Christian Parker. He’d be an upgrade for the Cowboys and would be an asset as they transition from Matt Eberflus’ scheme to Parker’s.
