Ryan Knight and wife Jenny Knight put forward a bid for the crumbling pink house built in the 70s and were surprised when they were told their offer had been accepted. Despite never seen it inside, the couple had a feeling this house had a "unique" character to it and just felt right to take a shot. As far as doer-uppers go, is this the final boss?

Ryan and Jenny Kent shelled out £200,000 for an abandoned pink home in rural Wales – but were stunned to find mounds of rubbish and bizarre items inside.

The couple put forward a bid for the crumbling house built in the 70s and were surprised when they were told their offer had been accepted.

Despite never seen it inside, the couple had a feeling the home had a ‘unique’ character and jumped at the opportunity to renovate it.

When they finally got in, after removing tons of rubbish and clearing out space, they encountered many surprises.

The 3,000ft home, surrounded by woodland, streams and a pond in Anglesey, north Wales, was first built in the 1970s.

The previous owners became unwell, which led to squatters taking over and leaving some interesting items behind.

‘You can imagine there’s a lot of rubbish inside and outside the house,’ Jenny said, adding: ‘We knew it was going to be messy but didn’t know how messy it would be.’

Inside the home, Ryan and Jenny found old newspapers, pictures, clothes, boxes and bags – and a set of false teeth.

‘The teeth were definitely the weirdest thing we found – they were the funniest and did provide the most laughs,’ Jenny said.

‘Ryan is terrified of spiders, and there’s some really massive cobwebs in the house.’

As part of the refurbishment, the couple have trimmed the bushes, removed the rubbish and carved out a pathway through the house.

It comprises four bedrooms, four bathrooms, a large lounge and a living room as well as an extra lounge at the back of the property.

Jenny said: ‘The first thought I had was that it was of a Mediterranean feel. It’s got these big arched windows, and it looks quite Spanish.

‘But we were told it was built with a Roman villa inspiration. From walking around the outside, we could see it was big, but the indication from the auction people’s property pack didn’t say it was as big as it is.’

The couple say there’s a lot of work ahead of them – new plumbing, electrics, windows and roof work.

Jenny started sharing footage of the renovation journey on the very day the pair finalised their purchase, and has already racked up 90,000 followers online.

‘People like the process of seeing things change. I have never been a massive social media person, so I had to learn all about hashtags,’ she said.

‘We’d like to be able to go there and have some friends without moving in, but there is no way it will be finished in 12 months. We want to renovate it and bring it back, and we are not in a rush.’
