This article contains spoilers for tonight’s Coronation Street, which has not yet aired on TV but is available to watch now on ITVX.

It’s never quiet on the cobbles at Christmas time, and this year has been no different.

Crammed into one single, festive episode, we were treated to a baby bombshell, a false affair reveal, a real affair coming close to being exposed, a kidnapping and an appearance from show legend Gail Platt (Helen Worth).

However, none of those things were worthy of the coveted cliff-hanger…

That special spot was left for another major revelation: One Corrie resident was the victim of a brutal attack!

We don’t want to spoil who it was lying unconscious in the ginnel before you’ve even had chance to scoff your Christmas dinner, but it will certainly ruffle feathers in the aftermath!

The question remains, who was the attacker?

Did the victim get a look at whoever clobbered them, and if so, will they survive their ordeal and be able to tell all?

They won’t spend long lying in the cold, as Evelyn Plummer (Maureen Lipman) is set to stumble across them while walking Freddie in tomorrow night’s Boxing Day episode.

Knowing Evelyn, it won’t be long before news of the attack has spread across Weatherfield.

Should the other residents be worried, or was this a personal vendetta?

This wasn’t the only attack in the episode, however, with Adam Barlow (Sam Robertson) having taken a punch from Ben Driscoll (Aaron McCusker) after being accused of having an affair with Eva Price (Catherine Tyldesley). Happy times!

Actress Cath dropped a major hint to the identity of the second attack victim, hinting that it is also someone connected to the Driscolls.

‘Christmas is supposed to be that time where seemingly everyone is supposed to get on, you hang out with friends and family, and everything’s supposed to be lovely, but it’s not like that in Weatherfield on Christmas Day!

‘So, yeah, it’s a big shock…there are two attacks connected to the Driscoll family, it isn’t exactly how any of them envisaged their first Christmas in the Rovers.’

With Maggie Driscoll (Pauline McLynn) having ruined Christmas Day with her antics, could she have taken things further and launched an attack on one of her unsuspecting neighbours? It wouldn’t be the first time she’s lashed out with deadly consequences

Alternatively, Will Driscoll (Lucas Hodgson-Wale) was in a foul mood and had been drinking heavily, neither of which makes him look exactly innocent.

Then again, we can’t rule out Ben or Adam, having both already been involved in an altercation.

Or maybe Ollie Driscoll (Raphael Akuwudike) has finally grown fed up of his culinary prowess going unappreciated. After all, he put a lot of effort into his bird-inside-a-bird-inside-a-bird. But could Christmas dinner really be a reason to potentially kill?
