Jan. 28 (UPI) -- The Cleveland Browns agreed to hire Baltimore Ravens offensive coordinator Todd Monken as their head coach, a league source told UPI on Wednesday.

Former Miami Dolphins coach Mike McDaniel, Seattle Seahawks defensive coordinator Aden Durde, Washington Commanders running game coordinator Anthony Lynn were among other candidates to interview for the Browns' vacancy.

Monken, who also interviewed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for their offensive coordinator opening, served as the Ravens' offensive coordinator for the last three seasons under former coach John Harbaugh.

The Ravens had the No. 6 offense in the NFL, with the top rushing attack, in 2023. They totaled the most yards in the NFL, with the top running game and No. 7 passing attack in 2024.

The 2025 Ravens offense totaled the 16th-most yards, led by the league's second-best rushing attack.

Monken served as offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at Georgia from 2020 through 2022. The Bulldogs won national titles in each of his final two seasons, with one of the top offenses and defenses in college football.

He served as the Browns' offensive coordinator in 2019. The Browns ranked 22nd offensively, with the No. 12 rushing attack in the NFL that season. Running back Nick Chubb earned Pro Bowl honors for the first time that season after logging a career-high 1,772 yards from scrimmage.

Monken also worked for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Jacksonville Jaguars and at Southern Mississippi, Oklahoma State, LSU, Louisiana Tech, Eastern Michigan and Notre Dame.

The Browns, who fired coach Kevin Stefanski on Jan. 5, totaled the third-fewest yards, with the second-worst rushing attack, in the NFL in 2025 under offensive coordinator Tommy Reese. They totaled the fifth-fewest yards in 2024.

The Falcons, who Stefanski as their new coach Jan. 17, hired Reese on Thursday to serve as their offensive coordinator.
