Muscat – As part of its ongoing efforts to promote a culture of quality and sustainability in the industry sector, Areej Vegetable Oils and Derivatives SAOC (AVOD) participated in the Standards and Accreditation for a Sustainable Industry Seminar, organized by the Oman Accreditation Centre (OMAC) in collaboration with several other specialized entities. The seminar aimed at highlighting the importance of applying standard specifications and the role of accreditation in supporting national industries and achieving sustainable development.

During the seminar, AVOD showcased its pioneering expertise and experience as one of the first laboratories to be assessed for accreditation by OMAC, reflecting the company’s continuous commitment in applying the highest quality standards and maintaining transparency in its laboratory operations, thereby enhancing consumer and supplier confidence in its products and services.

Ms. Seham al Amri, Quality Control Team Leader at AVOD, emphasized that obtaining accreditation is a pivotal step towards improving performance efficiency, ensuring the accuracy of laboratory results and thereby positively impacting the quality of the final products and the competitiveness of national industries in local and regional markets. She added that accreditation contributes in realizing the company’s vision of sustainable development, excellence and adherence to global quality standards.

The organizers of the seminar and the participants commended the AVOD’s role in supporting the national accreditation system and its dedication in keeping pace with the scientific and technological developments in testing & analysis, making AVOD a role model for best industrial and laboratory practices.

AVOD participation in the seminar also highlighted the integration between public and private sector institutions in supporting the quality and sustainability journey. The company believes that accreditation is not merely a technical requirement, but also a strategic tool that ensures performance improvement, enhances production efficacy, and strengthens confidence in national products.

Ms. Maryam al Mundhari, a Microbiology Laboratory Technician, expressed her happiness about presenting a paper at the seminar, highlighting her pride that AVOD’s laboratory was the first to receive accreditation from OMAC. She affirmed that this participation shows the laboratory’s commitment to the highest standards of quality and competence.
