Governor Umar Namadi has approved a downward review of official working hours for civil servants in Jigawa State for the duration of the 2026 Ramadan fasting period.
The development was announced in a statement signed by the State Head of the Civil Service, Alhaji Muhammad K. Dagaceri, and made available to journalists by Ismaila Ibrahim Dutse, Public Relations Officer, Office of the Head of the Civil Service, Jigawa State.
According to the statement, civil servants will now close at 3 pm from Monday to Thursday, instead of the usual 5 pm.
Work will commence at 9 am on those days.
On Fridays, official hours will run from 9 am to 1 pm, in line with the existing arrangement.
Alhaji Dagaceri said the adjustment was aimed at reducing the strain on workers during the fasting period and providing them with ample time to prepare for iftar and participate fully in Ramadan’s spiritual obligations.
He expressed hope that civil servants would use the holy month to offer prayers for divine guidance and the continued progress of the state.
The statement further urged workers to pray for peace, stability and economic prosperity in Jigawa State and the country at large.
