A 23-year-old has lost his life after sustaining severe injuries in a dispute linked to palm fruit collection in Benue State.
Reports indicate that the matter was brought to authorities by Godwin Oraade, 43, from Pass Brother Community in Guma Local Government Area.
He alleged that his younger sibling, David Oraade, was attacked on February 16 at approximately 2:20 p.m.
According to the sources, David had challenged a neighbour, identified as Felix Cephas, 30, over claims that he was harvesting palm fruits from their family-owned trees.
The disagreement reportedly escalated into a physical confrontation.
During the altercation, the suspect allegedly beat the victim, leaving him with life-threatening injuries. He was subsequently taken to Benue State University Teaching Hospital, where he later passed away while undergoing treatment.
The deceased’s body has been deposited in the hospital’s morgue.
Police authorities stated that the suspect fled the scene after the incident and is currently at large.
They added that efforts are underway to apprehend him, while a full investigation has begun.
