The Deputy Chairman of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON) in Enugu State, Hon. Barr. Ugo-Ferdinand Ukwueze, has urged Comrade Kennedy Iyere to refrain from making negative remarks against the Executive Governor of Enugu State, Barr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah.
Ukwueze spoke on Monday while responding to a video by Iyere, Coordinator-General of the Nigerian Youth Economic Engagement and De-Radicalisation Programme (NIYEEDEP), in which he criticised Governor Mbah’s administration.
He described the governor as a leader who has prudently utilised state resources for the development of Enugu State, and urged public commentary to remain factual and responsible.
“Governor Mbah has prioritised the welfare of Enugu people and has consistently used state resources for infrastructure, healthcare, education, and security improvements. It is important that public discussions focus on verifiable facts and constructive engagement,” Ukwueze said.
He highlighted the governor’s achievements, including investments in roads, schools, hospitals, security infrastructure, and economic development projects across the state. Key projects include 260 Type-2 hospitals, 260 smart schools, 17 science schools, a 300-bed international hospital, an international conference hotel, the Enugu Air project, over 4,000 kilometres of roads at various stages of construction, CCTV surveillance systems, modern command and control centres, and the revival of state-owned enterprises.
Ukwueze emphasised that Enugu State’s visible transformation is a result of strategic planning and responsible governance, and encouraged all stakeholders to support initiatives that promote development and public welfare.
