This 1965 Ford Mustang fastback was fitted with a 302ci V8, GT350-style bodywork, and 17″ wheels by a previous owner. It was repainted red, and the interior was redone with black upholstery. The car is further equipped with a three-speed automatic transmission, a limited-slip differential, front disc brakes, a dual exhaust system, LED headlights, front bucket seats, and a push-button radio. It was acquired by the seller on BaT in February 2024. This Mustang is now offered by the seller with a clean California title.

The car left the factory in Rangoon Red, and it was repainted in 2019 following bodywork. A GT350-style hood, grille, R-style valance, and white side stripes were added along with LED headlights and faux side scoops. Dual exhaust outlets exit through a GT-style rear valance. The seller tells us the mirrors were replaced following their acquisition.

Machined 17″ wheels with black centers are mounted with 245/40 Road Hugger tires. Braking is handled by power-assisted front discs and rear drums.

The cabin was refurbished in 2019 and features front bucket seats and a rear bench upholstered in black vinyl with pony backrest embroidery. Cup holders and a retro-look push-button radio have been added.

The wood-rimmed steering wheel fronts a 120-mph speedometer. The five-digit odometer shows 1,800 miles, around 400 of which were added since the last auction.

The 302ci V8 was reportedly installed in 2019 and is fitted with an Edelbrock air cleaner, Cobra-script valve covers, long-tube exhaust headers, and a dual exhaust system. An aluminum radiator and a Monte Carlo bar were also added.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a three-speed automatic transmission and a limited-slip differential. A previous owner reported the transmission was repaired in 2019.

Decoding the trim tag reveals the following information:

  • Body 63A – Two-door fastback, standard bucket seats
  • Paint J – Rangoon Red
  • Trim 26 – Black crinkle vinyl
  • Date 30M – December 30, 1964
  • DSO 71 – Los Angeles sales office
  • Axle A – 3.00 Limited-slip differential
  • Trans 6 – C-4 automatic transmission
