Chappell Roan has confirmed she has left her talent agency, Wasserman, after founder Casey Wasserman’s emails were discovered in the Epstein files.
Wasserman, 51, had exchanged flirty messages with Ghislaine Maxwell in 2003, asking for ‘massages’ and ‘rubbing’, while his then-wife was pregnant.
While he has since said he ‘deeply regrets’ any association with Maxwell or Jeffrey Epstein, singer Roan ‘refused to passively stand by’.
On Instagram, the Hot To Go star wrote: ‘As of today, I am no longer represented by Wasserman, the talent agency led by Casey Wasserman.
‘I hold my teams to the highest standards and have a duty to protect them as well. No artist, agent or employee should ever be expected to defend or overlook actions that conflict deeply with our own moral values.’
Roan, 27, has often been outspoken on political issues as well as defending herself when photographers and fans have been rude to her.
‘I have deep respect and appreciation for the agents and staff who work tirelessly for their artists, and I refuse to passively stand by,’ she continued.
‘Artists deserve representation that aligns with their values and supports their safety and dignity.’
The Grammy winner concluded by saying that ‘meaningful change in our industry requires accountability and leadership that earns trust.’
Variety previously reported that several artists were looking to leave over this, with a source telling them things were at a ‘fever pitch’.
The publication claimed artists’ agents had offered an ultimatum to the CEO to step down or sell the company.
Wasserman has so far done neither, instead issuing a statement distancing himself from Epstein and Maxwell.
In a statement, he said: ‘I deeply regret my correspondence with Ghislaine Maxwell, which took place over two decades ago, long before her horrific crimes came to light.’
He claimed he ‘never had a personal or business relationship with Jeffrey Epstein’ but acknowledged: ‘As is well documented, I went on a humanitarian trip as part of a delegation with the Clinton Foundation in 2002 on the Epstein plane.’
‘I am terribly sorry for having any association with either of them,’ the CEO concluded.
Wasserman is also facing calls to step down from his role as chairman for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics.
He has not been accused of wrongdoing by any Epstein survivor.
Roan isn’t the only artist signed to the agency to publicly call out Wasserman, although she is by far the biggest.
Bethany Cosentino, the frontwoman of L.A. band Best Coast, wrote: ‘I did not consent to having my name or my career tied to someone with this kind of association to exploitation.’
The singer, who has been signed to Wasserman since their acquisition of Paradigm in 2021, called for him to step down.
‘Staying quiet isn’t something I can do in good conscience — especially in a moment when men in power are so often protected, excused, or allowed to move on without consequence. Pretending this isn’t a big deal is not an option for me,’ she continued.
Rock band Beach Bunny also shared they were ‘hugely disappointed and disgusted’ that their CEO ‘had involvement with Ghislaine Maxwell’.
Other artists represented by the agency include Billie Eilish, Coldplay, and Ed Sheeran, as well as sports stars and comedians.
Metro has reached out to Wasserman and Roan for comment.
